UA was trying to get LAX/EZE rights a few years ago. I don't know if they shifted this to IAD, or just canned it. I do think that if the contract ground support is at the right price, an SFO/SCL/EZE on a 763 would be a good route. There is no good way to deep South America from SFO. Going through LAX adds at least 5 hours, as a practical matter, to each direction. I would figure enough full fare and premium seats could sell in this market that it could make a 763 profitable, again, as long as the ground support was cheap enough. Going through GRU to parts further west are way out of the way, through a pit of an airport.

After UA cut SCL service, there were so many of us on a SCL/GRU/MIA/SFO routing, it was painfully pathetic.
