Per the PG website, they only allow through checking baggage on separate tickets when the second ticket is a PG codeshare partner flight.

I'm looking at traveling KBV-BKK-HKG, KBV-BKK on PG and BKK-HKG on CX as separate tickets. The CX BKK-HKG flight is codeshared with PG, but I won't be booking it as a PG codeshare (I'll be booking as an AA codeshare). Will PG only through check if the PG codeshare is booked? Or will they through check given the flight is operated by an airline they partner with and have an interline agreement with?
