What I remember about making silver was that you probably need to leave a week or 2 between resetting your account and earning towards gold. In my case I was almost 150 point over the requirement for silver when they made me gold, but they also resetted these 150 extra points... I don't know if my case was just bad luck but I would keep a close check and call them the moment the points to make silver a posted.
