You are most certainly correct. There is no shortage of jackoffs on all sides of this particular debate! And, to be honest, I am sure I have been an ... on occasion (bad day, etc.) and I am sure you probably have given some short shift as well. The thing is we are all human and have our good and bad days. My attempt is to try and not put all people into one little box and judge them by the actions of others. Some days I am more successful than others.

That said, TSA personnel are not giving you "advice" when they tell you to take off your shoes. It is a regulation in most places. You are not required to do so in a legal sense but if you wish to fly then you must. You in effect grant your consent to the search for the ability to fly on a plane.
