Had a very nice stay here over Memorial Day weekend. Massive room thanks to the clearing of an SNA 3 days out.... Deluxe Suite with enormous lounge area and decent sized bathroom. Second biggest suite in the hotel after the 'terrace' suite.
The room was very well appointed occupying a corner block with stellar views overlooking Michigan avenue from which vantage point I could see the Hancock Tower and the old Chicago Tribune building in the other direction.
Chicago as a city truly sparkles. 'A clean New York' I like to call it.
Breakfast each morning was in the 'Upstairs at The Gwen' restaurant. Yes, as others have pointed out, it is a windowless room - but honestly, it didn't make any difference. The service was prompt and polite. The food was also excellent, well presented and tasty.
The PlatTit breakfast gets you $28 per couple as credit towards the bill plus service of 18% is included to it's actually worth closer to $30.
Only slight irritation was that there was often only one person on the front desk during normal working hours... but other than that, I think the hotel is great both in terms of its comfort and the location is second-to-none.
That said, if you wanted to do a little hotel hopping, the Marriott is right next door, the AC a couple of blocks away, the Westin a short walk up Michigan Ave and the Sheraton around the corner. Marriott own this town!
