IME the Marriott has always been better than the Ren including the fact that the food offerings are better in the evening and it doesn't have the "large tour group hotel" feel.
I thought that the food options at the Ren were better than the Marriott, certainly for vegetarian options. I stayed on my birthday at the Marriott. They upgraded me for one night, but then I had to move to another room for the second night. I found food and dirty plates in the desk drawer. There was food and dirty forks under the desk. They gave me a birthday cake so huge, that it wouldn't fit in the fridge (which didn't work anyway). When they delivered the cake, it didn't come with any plates, knives or forks. I guess they assumed I would eat it with my hands. The list goes on and on ...
