Another option is that same outbound on 1st July with PZ4 showing, returning 12th for $3645 - not sure the extra 900 worth it - especially as My ideal scenario would be the 9pm flight on 29th which is a 764 ( I much prefer the 764 business seats over the new polaris ones) , but as I wouldn't get P+ on that plane I would not book without PZ space.
Do you think it is worth grabbing the $2,763 flight ? Or do prices typically stay the same or go down closer to leave date (and is there any way of projecting when PZ space might open up? )
thx
From my own experience, in the last three years I have traveled many times to four international long haul destinations so I know the typical prices for Economy and Business. If when I need to book my flights, the price is close to my historical price I just purchase it then (some times six months before the trip) and don't wait for a potential lower price. Reason: if I need to book it in Economy, I put myself in the upgrade waitlist before other passengers plan their trip. If the fare you book is W it's better to be on that upgrade list the earliest you can. If your fare class is higher (example, like Q), there's less emergency to be the earliest one on the upgrade waitlist as most passengers wanting to upgrade will just buy a W fare. I think that you mentioned that you fly frequently to LHR so you must know the typical prices. This because another reason that it's easier to upgrade on Tuesdays to Thursdays is that you have less competition from your fellow 1Ks taking their families on vacation. A lot of people taking a vacation like to leave on a Saturday and come back on a Sunday, especially in the US where workers have so little days of vacation.

It's a good idea to create an account for your 7 year old. It does not change anything for the upgrade success but it gets her on the road to the Million Miler if that ever exists by the time she gets to it.
