Just like occasionally a 21 year old ASU student may rent a room at the W Scottsdale and bring up a cooler and 5 of his/her closest friends (as much of a far, far outlier as that may seem). But data is also not the plural of anedcotes. Your average BMW owner probably has a higher income than your average Kia owner. No need to overthink things. Just like your average guest who has a means to be staying in a $300 a night hotel room, ceteris paribus, probably has greater means than one staying in a $150 a night room.
