Luxurious lodge on a beautiful farm with amazing mountain views: Cabot Lodge, NZ
Introduction Cabot Lodge is a luxury lodge on a 2,000 acre sheep and deer farm. With only four suites, the lodge can host a maximum of ten people. Because of the very small number of guests (during our stay, there was just us and another family of four) our stay was very peaceful and we were well attended to by our hosts, Breidi and Brad. Check In Our hosts sent a welcome email a few days before our check-in, and reached out a few hours before we arrived for our dinner plans. We were greated very warmly as we parked our car, and Breidi showed us to our suite. As we were the only guests arriving that day, our check-in was very personal and welcoming. Room The deluxe suite had large windows with amazing views of Lake Manapouri and the snow capped mountains that surround it. We also had a great view of the green farmland that streched out far and wide. The king bed had luxurious linens and the bathroom was very well appointed with heated floors, bathrobes and good quality towels. The suite had a walk-in closet that served as a dressing area and provided generous storage space for our 3 night stay. Service The hosts are very warm and attended to our needs during our stay. They anticipate what we can potentially need, such as asking if we needed a packed lunch for our boat trip, and what our dinner plans are for the day.During turn down service, they will leave a note on the bedside table with the weather forecast, dinner menu and farm activity for the next day. Truly appreciated the nice touch. Dining Breakfast is included in the room rate, and consists of cooked to order eggs, savory sides, toast and a selection of cold breakfast items. We enjoyed our hearty and delicious breakfast every morning.Guests can choose to eat dinner at the lodge, and we thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner that we decided to eat dinner at the lodge for the rest of our stay. There was always a vegetarian option, which I truly appreciated, and the salads were scrumptious. Location Cabot Lodge is good base to stay at in Fiordland. It has amazing views of the mountains and Lake Manapouri and is a close to other attractions in the area. The lodge is on 2,000 acres of farmland and there are many walking trails available for exploring the farm. We did a 3 hour scenic walk to the lake where we saw sheep and deer, and savored the peaceful atmosphere of the property. It was a memorable experience. Overall Cabot Lodge is one of the best places we've been to and is highly recommended as a luxurious place to stay at in Fiordland.
