Long time lurker, first time poster.

I made my first business class redemption on AA for a trip to spain. I am flying JFK-MAD (AA) and than BCN-MAD-JFK (IB) on the way back. I have seats for the flights to a from JFK, but I do not have a seat assignment for the BCN-MAD leg on IB, perhaps because it is not codeshare?

It says to contact Iberia for seat assignment? Is there a time they will do this. I just read some horror stories online of people's flights getting missed in translation on partner flights.
