I've booked an AA award, which contains two IB segments. I have three record locators -- the AA record locator, a six digit record locator that works on BA.com to manage my booking, and a five alpha numeric that shows up on Iberia's website. The two Iberia segments are in business.
When I use the six digit number on BA.com, it takes me through to the Iberia website, except it directs me to IB.com, but it won't let me select seats. If I use the same record locator on IB.com, it says it has to direct me to the German version of the site (the first segment is in Germany). There, I also cannot select seats, with the added bonus that I am forbidden to do so this time in German.
Anyway, I call the U.S. number to assign seats. They are able to find the reservation, but say they cannot select seats. I ask them to use the five digit number, which they say won't work because it is the "American number." No, I say, I have the American locator. They say, "that one is also American."
Ok, fine. So, how do I select seats? I can only do so at the airport. Why? "New security measures."
I hate Iberia. I have had nothing but terrible experiences. Why on earth did I book this? They are simply impossible. They just make it up as they go along. Last time I got seats, but they lost all my luggage. Maybe this time, we will not have seating assignments in advance but they will deliver my luggage. I guess that's better.
Any suggestions? I've tried rj.com, finnair, and I can pull up the reservation but cannot select seats. (For what it's worth, I have two more seats on the same flights, booked using IB avios, which allows me to select seats.)
