Having schlepped my kids all over since birth, I would never recommend trying to take a near 2 year old as a lap child, even in J or F much less Y. While your not in the situation you wanted the best advise is remain calm and roll with it. Kids are pretty good at reading their parents even at that age. If you are agitated, your kid will be too.
