It was not until '80 or '81 that AA flew LAX-HNL. AA was restricted to HNL from ORD, JFK & STL in the early 70s, and never flew the 747 into HNL, using 707s only; from HNL, it was off to Nadi, SYD, etc. The piano lounge was shortly lived, as were the 747 coach lounges. AA got rid of their 747s after the 73-74 fuel shortage.
