United is an airline I fly only occasionally, and I am not as familiar with the best time to buy for pricing, etc. I am looking at purchasing a one-way ticket from ORD 4 to 5 weeks out. When I looked at the flight last night, it was only $154. Now that my travel is confirmed, I went to book it this morning. The cost is now $504 saying only 1 ticket left at that price!

Does anyone have experiences to share about best day of week or advance time frame to purchase? I am wondering if the price may drop again, if I wait until next Tuesday after the holiday, or if they tend to just raise prices the closer it gets... I appreciate any suggestions ~ Thank you!
