Southwest's rule is UNDER 5 years old. Since they have open seating, this assures that a toddler/pre-schooler is not separated from their parent(s). Other carriers have assigned seats, so this is not an issue for them, hence the lack of pre-boarding.
So for a 5 yr old WN thinks it's okay to be separated?
