Thanks this is really sound advice. I can however only fly on exact days due to work which makes this very risky for me. Would I be better to risk it and wait until sales/fares drop? Japan always seems incredibly busy and expensive and I'd be looking to get seats on the same flight as my miles then, which could fill up quickly! I'm likely flying into Tokyo and then out of Osaka which makes it even harder to match!
