If this was a suitcase, sure. The expectation of a backpack is that it is not thrown or dropped. It isnt one size fits all.
What next, someone has a travel adapter block in their bag and that is what smashes their screen when the bag is dropped; you blame the OP for not wrapping their laptop in a pelican case or bubble wrap?
