His (well, his family's, RIP), ports are in another class. And by another, I mean more like different than better or worse. I stumbled (figuratively) in his once humble little shed when I saw a sign off of Highway 29, on a little driveway next to Sutter Home, somewhere in the mid 1980s, and was a regular for several years. While I haven't been in years (as I avoid that valley unless there's a specific event), about a year and a half ago I opened a 1995 Royal Escort at Thanksgiving. It was lovely.
Not that you need much more of a nudge, but your proffered selection will provide the opportunity for the crowd to taste something quite distinctive in style, and not in wide circulation, not to mention the new best friends you'll have. While
2006 Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is worthy of friendship, and a close one at that, it is too widely distributed to be worthy of best friendship (no matter how temporary).
