I am almost 100% the hotel has some kind of waiver or limited liability that is going to make it hard for you to claim damages unless you take them to small claims court, but hopefully, with Lurkers help corporate can help out.

Leaving a glass bottle of liquid in the bag with your laptop is negligent and you deserve said berating in this thread, but also if the hotel dropped your bag hard enough to pop the hinge then that is their issue and they should be held accountable. I hope you get recompensed.
