Someone obviously doesn't want to miss their annual dose of glamour and glitz!
Though if that is the case, perhaps they should have booked an earlier flight since things can and do go wrong.
Btw, I don't see how issues with a cargo door are the fault of the CSM. And since quite a few air disasters over the years have been caused by faulty cargo doors, I'm sure getting them sorted should be top priority, not landing in time to see Madonna.
