My wife's top of the range X5 was damaged by the official valet parking at T3. The guy who had driven it around (only found that out on escalating it) told me to drive it away and contact them when I got home. I gave him a look that said "Do I really look that stupid?". I took evidential photos of damaged fibreglass and the corresponding mark on the pillar he had scraped it against in an empty section. I insisted on the manager coming even though he was 'busy'. The manager accepted liability in writing on headed paper and arranged for the car to be fixed. Followed by 5 years of "That accident you had" calls.
They try and get you to sign the forms to pick up the keys. Don't. I always refuse. Find your car before going to the office and check it thoroughly. Common sense should guide you, but if there is damage do not leave the car park as that means they can say, "But it could have happened on your way home".
I have used valet parking and the official meet and greet short stay since and there have been no reoccurrence. Now though, I prebook short stay and park it myself and keep the keys for trips of around a week.
