CRJ550 is technically a different plane than the CRJ700, even though it is the same body, it has a lower MTOW. From reading of the UA press release about this it says they will be delivered, I believe these are net adds to the fleet and not mods. UA is doing this to get around the scope clause so I don't think they will be removing any CRJ-700s when taking the 550s
I don't believe that's true. AFAIK they're the existing CR7 frames, with new interiors, I think the MTOW reduction is intentional on those frames.
