Yes, United is an exception. Probably, because UA has lots of competitive routes and they have a large population who tends to prefer to fly *A within the USA
That’s why I was confused. IST-LHR and LHR-DEN were also booked in L but operated by TK and UA respectively. These credited automatically a couple of days after travel.
