National, Alamo, Enterprise, are all owned by Enterprise Holdings. However, Alamo is the odd one out, their systems don't talk to each other, as in you can't earn rewards on National/Enterprise when you rent at Alamo, though for National and Enterprise you can.
I don't think you can use those coupons for Alamo on National, but did you give it a try?
I know for a fact that last August when I picked up a car at PBI Alamo, the guy at the counter could see my reservation with National in Cabo for Dec. The problem with those coupons is that they get marked "used" immediately and you have to call in to get them marked as "unused" if you want to change or cancel the reservation which is why I was hoping to get some kind of data points from the FT community.
