Sounds like an utter horror show as holiday travelers overwhelm the new airport where inevitably the kinks won't have been fully worked out.
It's now slated for 9/30, which gives them a 1 day buffer. But, honestly, I think they'll manage things pretty well (i.e. small number of flights during the initial phase). I believe this is an anniversary year, and China always tries to roll out impressive accomplishments during anniversary year National Days. Since only a tiny number of people will actually be there, the benefit is more symbolic than anything else.
