I am a big fan of row 17. I prefer when it is premium (VX did this; UA does this with E+; not sure why AS does not consider these premium seats)

But, because they are not premium, the seats open up to non-elites on main fares to select before takeoff. Your chances of ending up with an empty middle are better in PE.
