I first did my award reservation online (for myself + kids). My wife then called Delta stating that she was making an award booking for a minor (our 3rd kid) and needed to link it with an existing reservation. She had the flights information as well as my record locator and was done within minutes. When I checked later the agent had also seated our son with the rest of us.
