I booked a pair of award seats in economy on AS using AA miles. I then called AS to pay the fee to move into Premium Economy. I was told those seats are no longer available for partner awards. I explained to a supervisor these seats were for my elderly parents who really want to sit in bulkhead seats and I was willing to pay for that. The supervisor held firm that there was nothing she could do.

I ended up cancelling the AA reservation and depleting most of my AS miles to get my folks in the bulkhead seats.
