On Google Maps, there appears to a station across the street from the Sheraton Grande (with a crosswalk) and another at Maihama Station. The adult fare is ¥260.00 ($2.36 USD) one way, with potential savings when buying a multi-day ticket.
Yes, the station (called "Bayside") is quite close but you'll have to walk over there even if it's pouring down with rain, and it's elevated above ground so factor in walking up/down a lot of stairs or using escaltors/elevators. Not fun with lots of kids and luggage. More importantly, you have to pay for it and the rate (260JPY per person per journey) is quite expensive for such a short distance. 3 people travelling together by monorail to/from the Sheraton to Maihama station is the more expensive than a taxi I think. Once you get to Maihama you pay extra for the JR train (Keiyo line) to get into Tokyo (unless you have a rail/ train pass) and then pay a 3rd time if you use tokyo metro.

Also, I don't know on what schedule the monorail runs at night or at what time it stops.
So yes, the monorail is an alternative, but not a cheap or convenient one.

If you stay at the Hilton you don't have to worry about any of this as their free shuttle bus runs all day, multiple times a day.
