If the animal is big enough not to fit under the seat, it's not a "cute little" harmless critter, then it's a danger to me and everyone else on the flight. I don't want it beside me or even on the plane for that matter.
Someone who requires a service dog because of a disability does not have a “dog fetish.” They are legally entitled to bring that dog on board. Or would your solution be to require people who are blind, or have other serious problems a dog can help, to stay home?
