I just checked, and this add a bag strap is $18 on the Tumi website. OP, there’s your answer on repair.

If Tumi is really denying the claim because it’s an “accessory”, seems rather cheap to deny an $18 replacement part, since the bag that is needed to use this accessory cost $600+.
