C/D class and a cabin full of upgrades..

More and more often when I try to book travel on BA I find that D class is full and that I have to book on a C class ticket, as most of my travel is 1 day trips I find this a bit annoying:

Why is D sold out so quickly suddenly? Has BA lowered the number of D seats?

Why is there NO difference in miles/points between C and D class although the price difference is 25-30%

What really angried me was my flight lhr-ams yesterday, D was fully booked so I took a C ticket (928 guilder = 275 pounds). Imagine my anger when I found that the C cabin was FULL and that there were only 6 paying C pax, the rest were ALL upgraded (probaly due to the holiday weekend). The C cabin looked like a charter flight to mallorca, everyone was on the champagne, singing around.... Although I don't mind a bit of fun on board if I wanted this I would have flown easyjet... I found out the number of 6 pax through the CSD who was also clearly surprised/annoyed and understood my anger, seems like BA's current drop in revenue has made them do some rather stupid things...
