Thanks everyone for the comments. The history of the property is interesting. I had already cancelled my Doubletree Club airport reservation before getting any additional feedback. I was kind of nervous that a bunch of people would then come on line and start bashing the place. Glad to hear no negatives so far. I often forget about Hamptons in downtown locations. They can sometimes be terrific deals.

I've taken subways/light rail with luggage into Chicago, New York, Portland, OR and London. Some are easier than others. Sounds like the Metrolink is fairly easy.
