Since I normally book rooms for one, I never checked the occupancy limit when I made my booking a few months ago. Turns out I booked a room with a 2 person maximum occupancy. The room does have 2 beds, but I'm kind of unsure what to do here. Do I call in and try and upgrade my room (about 2k a night), or do I simply just try and check in? I do need at least 2 beds.
When you say 2K a night, would that be points, yen, or CDN$? These would be amazing, good value, or outrageously expensive.

Just arriving and hoping to check in is the worst thing you can do. The hotel will not permit three adults in a room with capacity for two and you will not be able to sneak in the third person.

You could cancel and rebook a correct room for three or contact the hotel and ask for their suggestions. Waiting is likely to make the solution more expensive.
