I agree wholeheartedly. I expect to use the redemption ex-UK, where the deal is generally far more favorable. BA and VS seldom show much consideration to US residents in their sales or other offers. I try to plan my trips with the following trip in mind: never booking ex-US R/T tickets. Same goes for the rest of Europe. At least VS seems to have reasonable availability when compared with BA (who seldom offer F any longer). I have heaps of Avios but find them best for intra-US on AA.
