I once got chatting to an avgeek in T5 GF who claimed that during long layovers she had been allowed to transfer to T3 on the basis of visiting the American Airlines ticketing desk, one bus an hour for this apparently. She had then visited other lounges in T3 rather than speaking to American Airlines. I have no idea whether this is true though - she was hitting the Champagne pretty hard!
