Hoping for some advice from those familiar with many of the Bangkok hotels. I'm booked at the StR for 2 nights in June with the 100 USD credit rate. The next night I'm at the Le Meridien near the airport because I have an early flight to Tokyo and I just want to stay inside and be lazy.
About a week later I'm back in Bangkok for 2 nights. I have bookings at the Marquis, Athenee, and StR for 4067, 5439, and 6321 THB per night respectively, and the StR is again the 100 USD credit rate.
Would appreciate some comments on which hotel would be the best for someone who values quality of room and potential for upgrades. I'm torn with the Athenee and StR because it seems to me that the StR hard product is newer and nicer while the Athenee seems dated, but if I want to spend a day hanging around I've seen that the Athenee lounge attracts a lot of praise.
The opposite I’d say, the Athenee has had a recent refurbishment and whilst traditional in style the hard product looks great, in contrast the St. Regis is starting to date and get a bit chipped in places, I find. I’m inclined to think you’ll get better service at the St. Regis, however.
