At the beginning of this week, I could see plenty of direct flight award availability between MIA-DFW on specific days in August this year and March next year redeeming 7500 Avios on BA.com. Now when looking at the same original dates, all I can see are indirect flights requiring 2 sectors and 15000 Avios which is quite frankly insane.

I'm really puzzled as to what is going on here. I understand there is an Avios increase supposedly from 7500 to 9000 per sector based on distance flown, I think, at the end of May, and I'm wondering if this has something to do with it perhaps. I have read a bit about married segments, but I understand this took effect back in 2017 and I have booked numerous award flights between MIA-DFW, DFW-MIA for the usual 7500 Avios each time since then, so I'm wondering why the Avios amount required has now suddenly doubled just this week.

I've searched this site and numerous other sites and I can't seem to find any other relating postings about this sudden increase. Just wondering if someone has a bit more information about what is going here.
