I’ve flown two trips with my grandkids on separate tickets from me. As described above, you just call Delta to book the tickets. At the airport you must check the kids in at Special Services or SkyPriority (the faster option) if you are eligible to use that. Since these were domestic flights I did not carry a letter from their parents. The TSA agents do ask the kids their names and ages.
