Northeast Regional - Saver fares no longer offered on peak time trains?
Is Amtrak playing games with saver fare availability for peak times?
Looking from WAS-NYP on Friday late afternoons/early evenings (trains 138 & 148 - the ~5pm/6pm departures), there are absolutely no saver fares available through end of schedule. Even April 3, 2020 - currently the last Friday at the end of the schedule - is listed as "none left" for saver fares.
Amtrak defines saver fares as "Saver Fares are deeply discounted, lowest-cost available fares. Saver Fares availability is limited and require advance purchase, so book early." - but booking early is typically a few months. No saver fares being available on a specific train for 11 months straight is crazy.
Is Amtrak not providing as many saver fares as in the past? Or not providing any saver fares at certain times?
The recent unannounced increase of saver fares from $49 to $53 was annoying enough, but total lack of saver fares feels quite... scammy.
