Agreed Langham Melbourne is getting a bit worn. But we booked 3 nights with Amex FHR last year for $316NZD a night which included breakfast for 2 ($45pp usually) and $100 f&b credit (note - not for use in their gift shop if you don't use it all up. Dinner buffet is $94 pp week nights) and we got upgraded to a riverview room which was very nice, plus early check in. So even though it was only showing for $248 per night, non cancellable on expedia I went with it because it just makes it so much easier not having to go and search for a place for breakfast every morning.

Also, I think it was cancellable up to one day before or something. So, in summary, the Amex FHR offer might stack up for you with the inclusions. All the other Amex FHR were dearer room rate and not offering the free breakfast. Lots of other cheaper offerings in Melbourne in May. We've booked another 3 night Langham stay, I plan to use the $100 f&b credit to have the buffet dinner one night, so that's effectively a 50% discount voucher for that. Plus you get the points being able to be credited to an airline program.
