You must be talking about my favourite J-with-Alepa-feeling salad!

The problem may be they have no plates. The question would then be why does that happen. The answer may be saving costs of cleaning extra plates.
Of course the food doesn't get better with nicer plates, but the way of presentation shows what's the overall J product quality they are aiming for. And as already discussed, being Europe's best J with such items probably won't work. Even though, the famous Singaporean Hawker's Chicken awarded with a Michelin star also doesn't amaze with presentation (nor the taste, to be honest), but there you aren't paying a typical Michelin restaurant price either.
