The companion cert doesn't seem terribly useful to most US users since your ability to use it is tied to your elite status. Basically only good for economy for Red folks, up to premium economy for Silver and up to upper class for Gold. I suppose if you are hitting $25k in spend on a card in a year you won't be that far from silver. Again nice to see added benefits without subtractions but not terribly earth shattering.
