At that time this is hardly understandable as the last AF flight to CDG is boarding (or about to), so they may just have a last partner flight (AT?) and that’s it. I checked on AF website and the lounge is closing at 1am.
You may just had the bad luck of dealing with an incompetent agent. AF has some very bad staff at JFK station. I reported several bad experiences in the Ultimate thread.
