We recently spent 5 nights here on a very reasonable BRG of under AU$100. I rarely stay at 4P, but recently had good experiences at 4P Singapore and Hakodate, so we decided to stay here rather than the Westin, which would have cost more than twice as much.

The hotel was very busy (sold out for 3 nights of our stay), and we were given a standard room on the 6th floor. Fairly large, in decent repair, and an ok view over the parliament in the distance (there are no water views to be had at this hotel, so I suppose this is as good as it gets in terms of view). No problems with noise. Welcome letter from GM and 4 drink chits waiting in the room.

Breakfast (in lieu of points) was available at the restaurant – eggs made to order and delivered to table, plus a buffet with hot (bacon/sausage/potatoes/beans/pancakes/one Asian dish) and cold (meats/salad/muesli/fruits/etc) items. Quality was acceptable, there was minimal rotation from day to day, but it was workable for this type of hotel. Very friendly staff, and apparently a Plat/Tit benefit at 4P in Australia (PER and SYD at least) is that staff will take your drink order (including latte/americano/etc) and deliver to the table (while non-status guests have to get their own).

We found the location to be fine – about 10-15 minutes to Northbridge or Hay St shopping. The IC/HI are probably marginally better located, but IMO the Hyatt/Pan Pacific are just as far from the “action” as 4P (although with better views). As has been discussed, the hotel is right across the street from the arena, which was busy every night. The hotel bar was hopping, and some days there were nice and competitively priced food offers from the barbecue.

I don’t know if there are any real standouts among Perth hotels (would love to see more reviews for the Westin), but I’ve stayed at Hyatt and Pan Pacific in the past (with top tier status in the respective programs), and IMO it’s hard to justify paying twice as much (or more) for these places compared to 4P. If the difference was $30-40, I’d obviously pick one of the hotels where I get club access.
