Unless things have changed, the beach was very rocky and full of seaweed/vegetation, with sand ending at water edge; due this area being a nature preserve (at least that's what I was told), the hotel was not allowed to make any changes to it. There was a fairly narrow strip of sand with some palm trees, and a few beach chairs, but no one really using that area. Looking at Google Maps, it still looks that way.
The pool complex on the other hand was great!
