I was recently on an AI flight and I called both SK and AI to get my EB frequent flyer number added. Both said it could only be done at the airport. On the outbound leg there were no issues. My EB number was added at the check-in counter. For the return flight. Despite my EB number being added at the check-in counter and visible on the boarding card I had to retro claim the points, but once I hit the send button on the online form the points was added to my account within minutes.
If you have had a retro claim fail the online verification. Something else has been wrong with your ticket or boarding card and your issue with getting the EB number added is not an EB issue. This happened to me for a LH flight recently. I don't know what was wrong but the situation was exactly as you describe it for AI
That's a good point, but pretty much every single time in my case, AI boarding passes do not display my EBD number even when I add it at the airport. Most of the time at the airport the staff have to call a supervisor to have a look, which is then followed by an apology that it couldn't be added, followed by giving me the correct lounge access cards (wherever applicable).
