I was at a Red Robin a couple of weeks ago. They did have PIN pads adjacent (thought they were attached) to the POS, but the bartenders still swiped on the POS. When I asked about the PIN pads, she claimed they were backup if the power went down. Didn't make any sense to me, as they looked like the EMV attachments at other restaurants.
Maybe it's still rolling out. It might be worth going back in a month or two, then. (And Outback, too, come to think of it.)
