Probably the most stupendous question, but I'm not certain how foolproof separate ticketing is with BA for these turnaround scenarios.

I know that the outbound flight from INV won't be leaving without the inbound, so in that sense I assume it should be safe.

Have a look at post 7, and equivalent posts in the recently archived version of this thread. Very few things in life are guaranteed but the point of this thread is about risk mitigation.
