Why did you have to pay walk up prices to rebook the next day after IROPS? I know carriers have this in there contract that they can force you to take a refund and not a rebook, but I was not aware any airlines actually did this (and certainly not a US mainline).
Chase might cover a needed replacement ticket after a WX cancellation. But it would likely depend on the details and be case by case.
The airline offered to rebook the next day. HGPilot wanted (needed) to travel the same day, so had to buy a new (expensive) ticket.
